'Shamshera' BO collection day 1: Ranbir Kapoor's film opens to lower figure than 'Samrat Prithviraj'

'Shamshera' opened to poor collections at the box office. The period drama touted as a larger-than-life entertainer, collected ₹10.25 crore at the box office on its first day. The film has reportedly performed worse than Akshay Kumar's 'Samrat Prithviraj' which collected ₹10.70 crore on its opening day.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the figures of Shamshera's box office numbers. He tweeted, "#Shamshera sends shock waves within the industry, as Day 1 ends on an underwhelming note... National chains poor, single screens below expectations... All eyes on Day 2 and 3 biz... Fri ₹ 10.25 cr. #India biz."

The film was made on a budget of ₹150 crore, but it seems it failed to impress the audience after the grand release.
The Karan Malhotra directorial is set in the backdrop of the city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved, and tortured by general Shuddh Singh, played by Sanjay Dutt.

'Shamshera' marks Ranbir Kapoor's return to the silver screen after a hiatus of four years. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor in a lead role. 'Shamshera' was released in theatres on July 22.
