Shahid Kapoor starrer 'Jersey' postponed, to release on April 22

The Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur starrer 'Jersey,' which was supposed to hit theatres on April 14, has been pushed ahead by a week. The news of the film's postponement came from trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who tweeted the news on Twitter "#Xclusiv... BREAKING NEWS... #Jersey POSTPONED by one week... Will arrive in *cinemas* on 22 April 2022... The stakeholders arrived at the decision late last night."

In a media statement issued by the film’s producer Aman Gill, it read, 'As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into 'Jersey' and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. Jersey will now release on 22nd April.'

While the exact reason for the film’s postponement has not been revealed, many speculate that it is to avoid a big clash with South superstar Yash's pan-India film 'KGF: Chapter 2', which is set to release on April 14.

The film was originally scheduled to release in August 2020, but got postponed due to the pandemic. This was followed by another release date around Diwali and then December 31 of last year.

'Jersey' is a film about a talented but unsuccessful cricketer who decides to return to the cricketing field in his late thirties in order to represent India and fulfill his son's demand for a jersey as a gift.

The film has Mrunal Thakur as the female lead and the veteran actor Pankaj Kapur in a pivotal role. The film is being presented by Allu Arvind and backed by Aman Gill, Dil Raju, S Naga Vamsi.
