Shabana Azmi files police complaint as she becomes victim of cybercrime: Clearly ‘phishing’ attempts

Veteran actor Shabana Azmi is the latest celebrity to fall prey to cybercrime. She took to social media on August 22 to inform everyone about someone trying to impersonate her via messages.

Her associate posted the notice regarding the ‘phishing’ attempts and also mentioned that Shabana is in the process of lodging a police complaint.

Shabana Azmi's statement read, ‘It has come to our notice that some of our colleagues and associates have received messages purported to be from Ms Shabana Azmi. These are clearly “phishing” attempts asking responders to make purchases on App Store for the messenger (sic).’

It further said, ‘Please do not reply or pick any calls/messages that appear to be coming to you from Shabanaji. This is a cybercrime of impersonation, and we are making a police complaint. As of now the two numbers from which these messages have been reported are +66987577041 and +998917811a675. Thank you (sic).’

On the work front, Shabana Azmi was last seen in ‘Ghoomer’ alongside Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan. She also featured in Karan Johar's directorial 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani', which starred Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles. Her chemistry with veteran star Dharmendra in the film was the highlight.
