Salman Khan issued gun license after receiving death threat

Salman Khan has been issued a gun license for self-protection following death threats, according to news agency ANI. The actor and his father Salim Khan received threat letters in June, days after singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead near Punjab’s Mansa.

Salim Khan had found an unsigned letter during his morning jog, which was written in Hindi. The letter read that both Salim and his son would soon meet the same fate as slain singer Siddhu Moose Wala.

Salman met Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar last month following which the license issuing authority started the necessary investigation. According to sources, Salman told the top cop that he needs a gun to protect himself and his family. His visit to the police headquarters was for physical verification, a mandatory step in applying for a gun license.

Recent reports also claim that Salman upgraded his vehicle to a bulletproof Land Cruiser.

In 2018, Lawrence Bishnoi threatened Salman Khan over the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The earlier gun license possessed by the actor which purportedly used in the blackbuck shooting case had allegedly expired. Hence, he was booked under the Arms Act. The case is pending.
