Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani: Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi are transforming themselves for KJo's film

They are not your typical grandmothers, and they are ensuring that fans notice that, as they prep for their upcoming film 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani'.

Veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan, both masters of their craft are transforming themselves for Karan Johar's film.

Shabana Azmi in a recent interview revealed that she will be playing Alia Bhatt's 'sexy' grandmother in the film, so she lost 10 kgs for her role.

In an interview to a leading daily, Shabana said "It is not a routine grandmother’s role. My character is a very sophisticated upper-class woman. Manish Malhotra has designed some exquisite clothes for me."

Actor Jaya Bachchan, meanwhile, will be playing Ranveer's grandmother in the film. Reports say, Jaya will play the role a halwai who enjoys a good laugh at her expense or at the expense of others.

The film's shoot is currently underway in Delhi. Co-produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures, 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani' has been written by Shashank Khaitan, Ishita Moitra and Sumit Roy. The film is slated for a 2023 release.
