Richa Chadha-Ali Fazal’s film ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ to be screened at TIFF Next Wave Film Festival

Parents-to-be Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal has another good news to celebrate. Their debut production venture ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ has been selected for screening at TIFF Next Wave Film Festival on April 14.

The couple has been on cloud nine with the announcement. Expressing gratitude on their film’s selection, Richa Chadha said that being selected for TIFF Next Wave is a huge honour. She said, “It’s incredibly gratifying to see our film resonating with audiences worldwide and being recognised by such esteemed festivals. ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ is a project that is very close to our hearts and to witness its journey from conception to being screened at TIFF is truly overwhelming.”

Ali Fazal also expressed his excitement and said that it is like a dream come true. He said, “Participating in TIFF Next Wave is a dream come true for any filmmaker. We are thrilled to showcase ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ to a diverse and enthusiastic audience at this renowned platform.”

It will not be the first time for Fazal at TIFF. Speaking about his return to the film festival, he said, “The last time I was at TIFF was with Judi, when we showcased Victoria and Abdul. It’s a true homecoming. TIFF will always be close to me.”

More about ‘Girls Will Be Girls’

The film is set in a boarding school and follows the story of a 16-year-old girl. The film stars Preeti Panagrahi, Kani Kusruti, Jitin Gulati and Kesav Binoy Kiron in key roles. Directed by Suchi Talati, the film was first premiered at Sundance Film Festival and then at the South by Southwest Festival. It also received two awards at Sundance Film Festival.

About TIFF Next Wave Film Festival

TIFF Next Wave Film Festival is an annual event organised by the Toronto International Film Festival. It will be held from April 11 to 14.
