Rashmika Mandanna Appointed As National Ambassador for Cyber Safety, read to know more

Actor Rashmika Mandanna has taken on a new role as the National Ambassador for Promoting Cyber Safety. This announcement comes after she experienced a personal incident involving a deepfake AI-generated video that circulated online last year. Rashmika aims to use her experience to raise awareness about the dangers of cybercrime and promote online security.

On Tuesday, the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), part of the Ministry of Home Affairs, revealed Rashmika’s appointment. In her role as ambassador, she will lead national campaigns to educate the public about various online threats, including online fraud, deepfake videos, cyberbullying, and harmful AI-generated content.

Rashmika emphasized the importance of addressing cybercrime, stating, “Cybercrime is a dangerous and pervasive threat that affects individuals, businesses, and communities worldwide. As someone who has experienced this, I am dedicated to raising awareness about these issues and promoting the message of cyber safety to drive positive change. It is crucial that we come together to combat these threats and protect our digital spaces."

In a video she shared on Instagram, Rashmika discussed her motivation for this initiative, recalling how her own deepfake video was shared on social media. The video featured her face superimposed on another woman's body in a swimsuit. The Delhi Police later arrested the person responsible for creating and sharing the deepfake.

The Ministry of Home Affairs expressed confidence that Rashmika’s influence and commitment would greatly enhance the national campaign against cybercrime, helping to create a safer digital environment for everyone.

Rashmika was last seen in the film 'Animal', alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor. She is also set to appear in 'Pushpa 2' and has a film titled 'Chaava' scheduled for release later this year.
