Randeep Hooda expresses gratitude to 'unknown men' for shooting Sarabjit Singh's killer, Amir Sarfaraz

Actor Randeep Hooda expressed gratitude on April 14 to ‘unknown men’ after Amir Sarfaraz, an underworld don linked to Sarabjit Singh's murder in 2013, was killed in Lahore, Pakistan. Sarfaraz was reportedly shot by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle.

Reposting a tweet from India Today, Hooda shared on X, ‘Karma.. Thank you Unknown Men. Remembering my Sister Dalbir Kaur and sending love to Swapandeep and Poonam, today some justice to Martyr Sarabjit Singh has been served.’

Who is Amir Sarfaraz?

Amir Sarfaraz, also known as Tamba, was a wanted underworld figure in Pakistan. He was attacked by motorcycle-borne assailants at his home in Lahore's Islampura area on Sunday around 1:30 pm and later died from his injuries.

Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Punjab, was sentenced to death for espionage and for allegedly killing 14 Pakistani citizens in bomb blasts in Punjab province in 1990, a claim disputed by his family and Indian authorities. Sarabjit Singh's family maintains that he accidentally crossed the Pakistan border while farming.

In response to Amir Sarfaraz's death, Sarabjit Singh's daughter Swapandeep initially felt some satisfaction but quickly realized that this did not bring true justice. In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Swapandeep stated that what her family truly desired was a trial to determine why Sarabjit Singh was killed and who was responsible.

Sarabjit Singh passed away due to a cardiac arrest at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore on May 2, 2013. He had been in a coma for nearly a week following a severe assault by inmates in Central Jail Lahore, where he was attacked with bricks and iron rods.

His sister Dalbir Kaur fought for his release for several years before her death in 2022.

The film ‘Sarabjit,’ directed by Omung Kumar, was released in 2016.
