Ramanand Sagar's son Prem Sagar reacts to Adipurush controversy

Prabhas starrer 'Adipurush' has been embroiled in controversy ever since its teaser launch. Some are criticising the forthcoming film for its VFX quality, while others are irked by makers for 'misrepresenting' Lord Ram and Ravana. Now, Ramanand Sagar's son Prem Sagar has commented on the ongoing controversy. For the unversed, 'Adipurush' is based on Ramayana which was famously adapted on TV by Ramanand Sagar.

Speaking with Times Of India, Prem Sagar defended the Om Raut-directorial and said that the filmmaker has the right to interpret the material in his own way. Questioning how one can stop someone from creating anything, he stated that 'dharma changes with time'time' and Om Raut did what he felt was right.

When asked if he would have been a part of a project like this, Prem responded that he wouldn't because of his 'upbringing and culture'. 'Ramayana' stars Dipika Chikhlia and Sunil Lahri have also commented on the controversy. Dipika said that she doesn't associate with 'Ramayana' with big-budget CGI spectacle, whereas Sunil said that people should watch the film before passing a judgement.

Adipurush is slated to release in theaters on January 12, 2023
