Ram Gopal Varma shares morphed photo of late actor Sridevi, says 'I came to heaven to visit her'

Director Ram Gopal Varma, no stranger to controversy, has found himself in a spot of bother for sharing a picture of himself with a morphed version of Sridevi. The post has now gone viral, with netizens brutally criticising the filmmaker for his 'insensitive' post.

Ram Gopal Varma has always been vocal about his love for Sridevi. He directed the legendary actor in films like 'Great Robbery', 'Govindhaa Govindhaa', and 'Hairaan'. The filmmaker recently channeled his inner fanboy and shared a selfie with her. However, a close look at the picture makes it clear that Sridevi's face has been morphed into another woman's body. In the AI-generated picture, RGV, sitting beside the morphed version of the late Sridevi in a car, is seen smoking a cigarette. He captioned the picture, “I just came to HEAVEN to visit HER.”

The post is now going viral on Reddit with users slamming RGV for his “disgusting” stunt. "He's crossing lines really badly this time," one user wrote, while another mentioned, "He lost it so hard, it's unbelievable!"

Earlier, Ram Gopal Varma was at the centre of controversy for claiming that AR Rahman did not compose 'Jai Ho' for 'Slumdog Millionaire', asserting that the Oscar-winning song was composed by Sukhwinder Singh. Later Singh refuted the claims and said, “AR Rahman has composed the song, I have only sung it. Ram Gopal Varma ji koi chhoti hasti hai toh nahi hai, shayad unhe kuchh galat pata chala hoga (Ram Gopal Varma isn’t a small celeb, he must have had some misinformation). Gulzar sahab had written this song, and Rahman liked it. Then he composed it in my studio in Juhu, Mumbai. He made Subhash ji (director Subhash Ghai) listen to it. I had not sung the song till that point in time."
