Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Anand' to get a remake

The 1971 iconic movie 'Anand,' starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna, will soon be getting a remake. NC Sippy’s Grandson Sameer Raj Sippy along with producer Vikram Khakhar will be producing the film.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on his Instagram page. He wrote, “OFFICIAL REMAKE OF ‘ANAND’ ANNOUNCED… #Anand - one of the most iconic films starring #RajeshKhanna and #AmitabhBachchan, directed by #HrishikeshMukherjee - will be remade by the original producer - #NCSippy’s grandson #SameerRajSippy - along with producer #VikramKhakhar. While the film is in the scripting stages, the makers are yet to finalise the director and star cast. #Anand #AnandRemake.”

Soon after the announcement, excited fans took to the comments section to express their excitement. While some wrote that they want to see Ranbir Kapoor in the film, others didn't approve of the remake. The film will be set in the post-Covid era.

The cult classic was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. It revolved around the story of a doctor's emotional connection with his patient which leaves a profound impression on the former. The dialogues of the film were penned by Gulzar which have been always remained evergreen. 'Babumushoi, zindagi badi honi chahiye … lambi nahin,' is one of the most memorable dialogues from the film.
