Protestors tear and burn ‘Pathaan’ movie posters in Bihar's Bhagalpur ahead of film's release

Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathaan’ is finally in theatres. A day before the its release, film’s posters were torn and set on fire at Deepprabha cinema theatre in Bhagalpur, Bihar. The protests were held by members of Hindu organisations, who shouted ‘Film Chalega Hall Jalega.’

‘Hindutva, according to the young person, cannot be compromised. Bhagalpur, as well as the entirety of India, would not allow any elements that oppose the Sanatan culture,’ declared the organization's Hindu members.

The members of the organisation added that if ‘Pathaan’ is shown in any theatres of Bhagalpur, it will be strongly opposed.

Following the protests, theatre manager Lalan Singh said that an application has been given to the local police station and SP, and the administration has assured that security will be provided.

Right-wing activist Satya Ranjan Bora filed a police complaint against the Siddharth Anand directorial at Geetanagar police station on Monday.

For the uninitiated, 'Pathaan' landed in a controversy after its song 'Besharam Rang' was released. It is being criticised as it shows Deepika Padukone in a saffron bikini and many people have alleged that the song hurts religious sentiments.
