Prashanth Neel opens up on the big clash between 'Salaar' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki'

Prashanth Neel has opened up on the big clash between his film ‘Salaar’ starring Prabhas and Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.

Speaking to Pinkvilla, Neel said, “What happens with cinema is you root for your heroes and the emotions get the better of you. It might be that way for the fans but with us, we are not trying to compete with one another. We are both surviving together. I don’t advocate being a part of something like that. It’s nasty is what I heard. I really wish it didn’t come down to something like that because both the stars are huge in Indian cinema and they deserve the respect they have accumulated over all these years.”

The filmmaker expressed that such an environment is not good for the cinema, but since “there’s no way to control something like that, you would rather ignore it. You just let it pass.”

'Dunki' was released in the theatres on December 21, while 'Salaar' arrived on December 22.

Talking about the huge difference between both films’ earnings, Prashanth said, “It is not a war between Dunki and Salaar. I don’t think either the makers of Dunki or Salaar think like that. We are here to survive and impress the audience. We are not here to compete among ourselves. This is not a cricket match.”

The director was also asked about the talks on ‘misconstruction of numbers’ referring to the allegations claiming that audience is not given real box office numbers. He said, “Misrepresentation and all of these things are heresy. You want to hear more negatives than positives.”
