‘Pathaan’s illegal screening stopped in Pakistan by Sindh Board of Films Censor

Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathaan’ was screened illegally in Pakistan. The Sindh Board of Films Censor (SBFC) has now taken a strict action and the screening has reportedly been stopped. 

Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathaan’ released worldwide on January 25 and went on to become a blockbuster. The Siddharth Anand directorial was screened illegally in Pakistan. The Sindh Board of Films Censor (SBFC) has now taken a strict action and the screening, which was being held in the Defense Housing Authority in Karachi, was reportedly stopped.

According to a report in a Pakistani daily, ‘Pathaan’ tickets were being sold online for ₹900 (Pakistani rupee) each. The report also added that these were private screenings being organised by Fireworks Events.

In a report by Dawn, SBFC said, ‘No person shall make or arrange a public or private exhibition of a film by means of cinematograph unless the film has been duly certified for public exhibition by the Board.’ It also said that for those who are screening the films not certified by the board may be liable to pay fines up to Rs100,000 (Pakistani rupee) and up to three years of imprisonment.

Reportedly, most of the theatres which were screening the film ‘Pathaan’ illegally in Pakistan were housefull.

Directed by Siddharth Anand, the also stars Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia, John Abraham and Ashutosh Rana.
