‘Pathaan’ becomes first Bollywood film ever to gross Rs 100 crore at worldwide box office in one day

‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, received a tremendous response on its opening day. Shah Rukh’s comeback film broke advance booking records and is now setting box office records for opening day as well.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film witnessed the biggest day one ever. The Siddharth Anand directorial earned Rs 55 crore on its opening day in its Hindi version and Rs 2 crore in Tamil and Telugu version.

The three national cinema chains — PVR, Inox and Cinepolis — reportedly contributed towards nearly 50% of the film’s opening day figures.

‘Pathaan’ is likely to earn even more on day two, as it is Republic Day holiday, which means that the film could cross the Rs 100 crore mark in two days.

‘Pathaan’ has already crossed the 100-crore mark globally. It made an estimated $4.5 million (Rs 36 crore) from overseas markets on day one, which means that its global gross now stands at over Rs 102 crore. Box Office India estimates the tally to fall between Rs 100 crore and Rs 110 crore.

It is now the first-ever Hindi movie to earn over Rs 100 crore globally on its first day of release.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted, ‘#Pathaan takes a whopping ₹ 100 Crs+ gross opening at the WW Box office.. No.1 debut in UAE and Singapore @iamsrk rules the (world emoji)’

According to DNA report, ‘Pathaan’ may end up grossing $1 million in the US on its opening day alone, one of the best ever for an Indian film across languages.
