Parineeti Chopra celebrates success of 'Amar Singh Chamkila; talks about bias against married actors

Parineeti Chopra is celebrating the success of her recent film, Amar Singh Chamkila, directed by Imtiaz Ali. This project has not only redefined her image in the eyes of filmmakers and audience but also brought new opportunities for her. In a candid conversation with Indian Express, she reflected on the industry's tendency to question female actors about their career after marriage, a query she faced following her wedlock with politician Raghav Chadha.

Describing the film's impact, Parineeti said, 'It is like a lifetime achievement award. You accept that your lifetime was the last two years that you gave to the film. Usually, the lifetime achievement award comes after like 50 years of service, but this one truly feels like that because it feels like a genuine, bonafide, authentic true hit. It is not a PR hit; it is not a fake hit. It has been a film that is actually liked by people. In today’s time it feels better than any other parameters.'

Parineeti's frustration at the patriarchal mindset

Addressing the stereotype about married actors, Parineeti expressed frustration at the patriarchal mindset that assumes marriage marks the end of a woman’s profession. She said, 'When you get married, the first question that people ask is if you are going to continue working. This is a very strange and cliched patriarchal mindset. But, of course, I am working and those questions stopped in a few days. There’s always that patriarchal thought that a woman will get married and stop working. I don’t know why that happens. What has work got to do with your marriage? So, anyway, that stopped. I have given my biggest blockbuster hit after my marriage. I think people kept quiet after that.'
