Oscar winner Guneet Monga pens note for ‘All That Breathes’ director Shaunak Sen: ‘The world needs..’

‘The Elephant Whisperers’ and ‘RRR’s ‘Naatu Naatu’ emerged as winners at the 95th Academy Awards, but the third nomination from India, ‘All That Breathes’, failed to bag the Documentary Feature award.

‘The Elephant Whisperers’ producer Guneet Monga took to Twitter to share a note for ‘All That Breathes’ director Shaunak Sen.

She wrote, ‘Dear Shaunak, it’s been such a pleasure learning from you! I love @allthatbreathes. In this last month, knowing you as a filmmaker has been an absolute honour. The world needs to see the brilliance of the cinema you create.’

Listing the various international accolades garnered by ‘All That Breathes’, she said that she would ‘always put Shaunak Sen’s name as one of the most important filmmakers from India for the world to watch.’

She concluded her note by saying, ‘Yesterday’s Oscars may have passed, but the impact of ‘All That Breathes’ and its visionary director will continue to inspire and touch hearts.’

Earlier, Shaunak Sen thanked all those who sent him messages of encouragement and said that the team of ‘All That Breathes’ was ‘low for about an hour’ after losing the Best Documentary Award to Daniel Roher's 'Navalny', but they ‘were soon distracted into equanimity amidst the whirl of glittery people and things.’ The filmmaker shared that he will next figure out the India release of his documentary as ‘HBO has ended its deal in India with Hotstar.’

Shaunak also congratulated the team of ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ and ‘RRR’ in his post.
