Neetu Kapoor on her marriage advice to Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt’; ‘mini battle’ with Soni Razdan

Veteran actors Neetu Kapoor and Zeenat Aman were the latest guests on Karan Johar’s talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’. The timeless divas made some interesting revelations regarding their personal and professional lives.

During the talk show, Neetu Kapoor discussed her granddaughter Raha Kapoor and shared her thoughts on what she hoped Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor would learn from her marriage with Rishi Kapoor.

When Karan questioned Neetu about the one thing she wished Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor would adopt from her marriage, she replied, ‘Nothing. In today's world, do what makes you happy. Each generation is different, and I can't expect them to follow the same path. They know what suits them.’

Neetu also recounted a humorous incident involving a disagreement with Soni Razdan, Alia's mother. They had a playful ‘mini battle’ over what words the baby should say. Neetu wanted the baby to say ‘papa,’ while Soni insisted on ‘mumma.’ Neetu jokingly mentioned her attempts to instruct the help to encourage the baby to say ‘papa’ at her home.

She said, ‘At my home, the baby is growing. I keep instructing the help to tell her to say papa. But Soni says to tell her to say mumma.”

The actor went on to share, ‘So, I visited their house recently, and Alia informed me, 'Oh, by the way, she said mumma.' I replied, 'She didn't exactly say mumma, she said mum-mum. So, don't get too excited.'’

Neetu also expressed that the name 'Raha' was a perfect fit for her granddaughter, as it brought a sense of tranquility whenever she looked at her. She explained, ‘I believe this name suits her perfectly. I feel a great sense of calm when I see her. She has such a beautiful, lovely, and joyful face.’

Alia and Ranbir welcomed Raha into their lives on November 6, 2022. When they announced her name, they mentioned, ‘The name Raha (chosen by her wise and wonderful Dadi) has numerous beautiful meanings... Raha, in its purest form, signifies a divine path. In Swahili, she represents Joy, while in Sanskrit, Raha is a clan. In Bangla, it means rest, comfort, and relief, while in Arabic, it symbolizes peace, happiness, freedom, and bliss.’

On Christmas the previous year, the couple finally introduced Raha to the world, posing with her for the first time.
