Mumbai drugs case: Aryan Khan's lawyer says his Whatsapp chats were on football

Satish Maneshinde has refuted the NCB's claim that WhatsApp chats found in Aryan Khan's phone point to involvement of an international drug supplier network.

Arguing for Aryan Khan's bail in a Mumbai court on Thursday, senior lawyer Satish Maneshinde, who is representing the 23-year-old star kid, said the NCB's version of what Aryan Khan's Whatsapp chats have, is far fetched.

The NCB had said that WhatsApp chats found in the phone of Shah Rukh Khan's son, point to involvement of an international drug supplier network.

Satish Maneshinde refuted the NCB's version, saying that Aryan's chats are about football, and football does not mean any drugs. He also said, the chat that is being cited by the NCB is a year old.

The NCB told the court that it needs Aryan Khan in custody, so that it can cross-examine him along with Aachit Kumar, who the NCB claims, supplied drugs to Aryan and his friends. Maneshinde argued that the NCB had plenty of time to cross-question Aryan following Aachit Kumar's arrest.

Aryan Khan was arrested on Oct 2, after a raid on a Goa-bound cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai. So far, 16 people have been arrested in connection with the drug bust, including those that helped organize the event.

The court has sent Aryan Khan and the other accused to 14 days judicial custody. A special NDPS court will take up his bail plea on Friday.
