‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ box office collection day 1: Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor’s film off to a good start

‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ made an impressive debut at the box office. Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor starrer film has minted Rs 7 crore on its opening day. The romantic drama is receiving an overall positive review from the cinemagoers.

Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi’s chemistry is winning hearts, and the film has exceeded expectations at least on day 1. According to industry tracker, Sacnilk.com, ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ earned Rs 7 crore nett in India on Friday. The film witnessed an overall 56.15 per cent Hindi occupancy.

The Mahis also got a favourable pitch as several factors helped the film. ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ performed well in the national multiplex chains, as the film was released on Cinema Lovers’ Day. The film benefitted from the flat Rs 99 to Rs 199 ticket price offer. Apart from this, no other Bollywood film backed by big names was released in the last few weeks.

'Mr and Mrs Mahi’ remains way ahead in the race compared to the other films running in theatres. Rajkumar Rao’s other recently released film, ‘Srikanth’, had earned Rs 2.25 crore on its opening day. Besides ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, Divya Khossla’s ‘Savi’ released on Friday.

Directed by Sharan Sharma, ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’ is a romantic sports drama. The film follows the love story of a newly married couple and their love for cricket. A failed cricketer turns coach for his doctor wife and helps her in pursuing her passion for cricket.

Janhvi Kapoor is collaborating for the second time with director Sharan Sharma after ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ and with Rajkumar Rao after ‘Roohi’. The film is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
