'Mother Zendaya showed us the way': Janhvi Kapoor admits copying 'Challengers' star's method dressing

Janhvi Kapoor is heavily inspired by Zendaya. The Indian actor in a recent social media interaction with fans admitted that she's taken inspiration from the 'Dune' star for the promotion of her film 'Mr and Mrs Mahi'. Her remarks were in reference to opting for method dressing to promote her upcoming sports drama, a move Zendaya had aced during the promotional events of her film 'Challengers'.

Janhvi admits she's 'copying' Zendaya

During an AMA session on Instagram, Janhvi was asked if she was copying Zendaya. Responding to which, the actor said, “Yes, I think I’m very heavily inspired by what she did for her Challengers movie promotions and not just her even I think Uorfi how creative she is with her fashion. I feel like as actors we’re all encouraged to kind of do method dressing or dress similar to your characters when you’re promoting a film.”

She further continued by stating, “I’ve never really done it except for Dhadak but when I saw her doing it and doing it so well and also dress like in accordance to the theme of the film, I realized that as actors there is a good amount of attention put on how we look and how we dress and if I can use that to bring attention back to my film then why not and mother Zendaya showed us the way and showed us how to do it really well. So yes, definitely inspired by that and trying to follow her footsteps.”

Janhvi Kapoor opts for ball-inspired dress

Earlier this week, Janhvi was spotted promoting her film with her 'Mr Mahi' Rajkummar Rao. As the duo posed for paparazzi, Rao was quick to highlight Janhvi's cricket-ball-inspired dress, as he gushed over her commitment to her character. Janhvi had opted for a red cut-out dress with cricket balls pinned on the back.

About Mr and Mrs Mahi

Janhvi is playing the role of an aspiring cricketer in the upcoming film. Recently, Rajkummar shared two posts from the film on his Instagram account. While sharing a series of pictures, he wrote, “Dreams & Love team up to give you an imperfectly perfect partnership! (heart and arrow emoji).”

In another reel showing glimpses of Mr and Mrs Mahi, he captioned it as, “Gear up to catch a glimpse of a story about love, self-discovery & chasing dreams together! (heart emoji) #MrAndMrsMahi in cinemas on 31st May, 2024.”

The trailer of the film is now out. It shows Janhvi and Rao fighting against all the odds to live their dreams.
