Mani Ratnam-AR Rahman’s 30-year partnership: Here’s a look at some of their best works

Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman are celebrating 30 years of their partnership with ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 1’ which is doing wonders at the box office worldwide. The duo has worked together in over 15 films. They first came together for the 1992 Tamil film 'Roja'.

Here's a look at five songs that celebrate their legacy

'Yeh Haseen Waadiyaan'

This beautiful song is from the 1992 movie 'Roja', which was the first film on which Mani Ratnam and AR Rahman worked together. The song is sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and K. S. Chithra.

'Hamma Hamma'

This track, from the 1994 film 'Bombay', is sung by Remo Fernandes, Suresh Peters, Swarnalatha and AR Rahman himself. It became an instant chartbuster upon release, and was remade for 2017 movie 'Ok Jaanu', starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur.

'Tere Bina'

This melodious song is a treat for the ears. It is sung by the music maestro AR Rahman himself, along with Chinmayi, Murtuza Khan & Qadir Khan. It featured in 2007 film 'Guru'.

'Dil Se'

The title song of the 1998 movie 'Dil Se' was sung by A. R. Rahman, Anuradha Sriram and Anupama in chorus.

'Chaiyya Chaiyya'

We saved the best one for the last. You can’t stop grooving to this song once you listen to it. One of the most iconic songs, 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' is from the 1998 movie 'Dil Se' and is sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi.
