Made in Heaven 2: BR Ambedkar's grandson Prakash Ambedkar lauds show for its portrayal of Dalit woman

The second season of the highly anticipated web series "Made in Heaven" recently debuted on Amazon Prime Video and received a warm reception from viewers.

The fifth episode, starring Radhika Apte as a Dalit bride, has particularly garnered attention for its impactful portrayal.

This episode has resonated so strongly that even Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of B.R. Ambedkar and a prominent Dalit leader, took to Twitter to express his appreciation.

Prakash Ambedkar lauded the character of Pallavi, the Dalit woman played by Radhika Apte, for her assertiveness, defiance, and resistance.

He highlighted the importance of asserting one's identity to achieve political prominence, drawing parallels to the character's perspective that "Everything is about the politics."

The tweet featured two images – one showing Radhika Apte uttering the line, "Everything is about the politics," and the other portraying a portrait of Buddha and B.R. Ambedkar from the Buddhist wedding depicted in the episode.
Neeraj Ghaywan, the director of the episode, expressed his gratitude for the acknowledgment in an overwhelmed response, stating, "This is everything! Thank you so much, sir."

The episode titled "The Heart Skipped a Beat" centers around Radhika Apte's character, Pallavi Menke, an Ivy League lawyer and author, engaged in an inter-caste relationship.

Pallavi, known for her outspoken nature, finds unwavering support from her fiancé.

However, when his family expresses reservations about a Dalit wedding, the situation takes an unforeseen turn.

Despite the challenges, Pallavi stands her ground. As her fiancé becomes aware of his family's intentions, he apologizes to Pallavi, and the couple proceeds joyfully with their Dalit wedding.

The episode's narrative underscores themes of identity, resistance, and societal dynamics while shedding light on the complexities of inter-caste relationships.

The positive reception from audiences, along with the commendation from Prakash Ambedkar, demonstrates the impact of well-crafted storytelling in addressing relevant social issues.

The episode's director, Neeraj Ghaywan, has succeeded in capturing a nuanced perspective on politics, identity, and the power of unwavering conviction.
