Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas was laid to rest in Mumbai. Several celebrities along with the family members paid their last respects to the singer.

Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, who passed away on February 26, was laid to rest with full state honours in Mumbai. Several celebrities who were close to the late singer and had the privilege to work with him were present to bid him adieu.

Celebs pay last respects to Udhas

Pankaj Udhas’ contemporaries and many celebrities who had a connection with the late singer came to pay their last respects. Vishal Bharadwaj, Anup Jalota, Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, Vidya Balan and many others gave an emotional farewell to Pankaj Udhas.
The late singer’s final journey began from his Mumbai residence where he was honoured with a state salute. The grieving family was also seen consoling each other during the final rites but his daughter and wife could not hold back her tears and broke down during the funeral.

Family's statement

The family shared an official statement on social media. The statement read, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.” The singer is survived by his wife Farida Udhas and two daughters: Nayaab and Reva.

Awards and accolades

Pankaj Udhas was awarded Padmashree in 2006. Besides, the legend had many prestigious awards to his credit including Filmfare award for Best Male Playback singer, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
