‘Liger’ director Puri Jagannadh seeks police protection after threats from distributors

Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Liger’, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, failed to impress the audience and tanked at the box office. The director has allegedly received threats from film distributors to settle the losses at the earliest. They are also planning to stage protest in front of his house.

Now, as per Hindustan Times report, Puri Jagnnadh has filed a police complaint and mentioned that distributors cannot threaten or blackmail him in any manner. He said they should have registered a civil case if they felt he or his firm owes them money.

Puri also revealed that as per agreement all his dues were paid to distributor Warangal Sreenu, who had defaulted payments to the sub-distributors. They are now being persuaded by Sreenu to believe that Puri owes them money. The director fears that Sreenu will enter his Hyderabad home, instigate violence and harass his family members.

‘Liger’ was promoted widely as a pan-India film, and Karan Johar had come on board to release the Hindi version. However, the film received negative reviews from viewers. Ahead of the release of ‘Liger’, it was announced that Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh would collaborate once again for another project titled ‘Jana Gana Mana’. However, the project has reportedly been dropped.
