'Krrish 4': Siddharth Anand confirms Hrithik Roshan’s return as superhero; says 'yup he is coming'

Hrithik Roshan's Krrish is among Bollywood's most successful franchises. Despite excitement sparked by his 2021 announcement of ‘Krrish 4’, updates about the forthcoming film have been scarce. Siddharth Anand's recent tweet, however, confirms the film is still in the works.

The filmmaker recently responded to a tweet that shared a photo of Krrish with the caption, ‘He is coming… #Krrish4’. Siddharth’s response read, ‘Yep! He is..’

According to a report by Midday, Hrithik Roshan and his father Rakesh Roshan are planning to finalize the concept for ‘Krrish 4’ this summer. Despite Hrithik's busy schedule with ‘War 2’, he will be actively involved in brainstorming with his father and their team of writers. The project is said to be in advanced stages, with plans to exceed expectations. The report also indicates that the basic idea will be locked in this year, with shooting scheduled for 2025.

The superhero franchise began with the 2003 film ‘Koi Mil Gaya,’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta. This was followed by ‘Krrish’ in 2006, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. The third installment, ‘Krrish 3,’ was released in 2013 and featured Kangana Ranaut opposite Hrithik.

In a 2023 interview with India Today, Rakesh Roshan expressed that while Krrish 4 will be the franchise's biggest film, he has concerns about the industry's current situation. He noted that audience attendance in theatres remains uncertain, emphasizing that Krrish will be a significant film with a budget of Rs 200-300 crore, comparatively smaller as Hollywood's multimillion-dollar budgets for superhero movies.

He shared, ‘What is happening is that the audience is still not coming back to the theatres, so that is a big question mark for me. Krrish is going to be a big film. The world has become smaller, and kids today are used to seeing Hollywood superhero films that are made on budgets of like 500–600 million dollars. Meanwhile, we have a small budget of Rs 200–300 crore in comparison.’
