Karan Johar turns 50: Inside details of filmmaker's birthday bash

Ace filmmaker Karan Johar, who is known for hosting lavish parties, is celebrating his milestone 50th birthday at Yash Raj Studios tonight. According to a report in India Today, the theme of his star-studded party is 'black and bling.'

'All the directors who have worked under Dharma Productions will be present. KJo has also invited Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to his birthday bash. Besides them, power couples Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone are likely to mark their presence,' a source told India Today.

Production designer Amrita Mahal, who is known for her work in films like 'Kalank,' 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani,' and 'Brahmastra,' will reportedly be designing the entire birthday bash setup.

The director has also hired renowned chefs Marut Sikka and Harsha Kilachand to prepare delectable food for the party. While Harsha is a well-known name in South Mumbai, Sikka is recognized for setting up award-winning restaurants and preparing meals for former US President Barack Obama and India's former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Karan Johar kickstarted birthday celebrations at his residence on Tuesday night (May 24). Celebrities such as Gauri Khan, Farah Khan, Ayan Mukerji, Manish Malhotra, Maheep Kapoor, Apoorva Mehta, and Seema Kiran Sajdeh were photographed arriving for the get-together.

Wishes have started pouring in for Karan on social media with Manish Malhotra and Farah Khan taking the lead.
