Kangana Ranaut on Gangubai controversy: Wasn't trying to sabotage Gangubai Kathiawadi's box office

Kangana Ranaut had complained about scenes from Alia Bhatt's upcoming movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, being recreated by a little girl on a social media platform.

The actress had taken to her social media and expressed, "Should this child imitate a sex worker with a beedi in her mouth and crude and obscene dialogues? Look at her body language, is it ok to sexualize her at this age? There are hundreds of other children who are being used similarly."

Recently, the Manikarnika actress was in Delhi to promote her upcoming AltBalaji reality show 'Lock Upp'. When asked about the same at the press conference, Kangana said, "If I am talking about the kids who are getting exploited, I don't think it is to harm anybody, in terms of the business. Social media should not only be used to use filters or put your fancy clothes on. It should be a place where people can give opposing views."

The actress further added, "The presence of opposition is so important in every field. It is not just politics. Suppose there is no opposition, then what is there. I am just putting my opinion that this looks wrong to me. You think that just because is it is not in their interest of making money, my voice should be shut."

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Gangubai Kathiawadi features Alia Bhatt in the titular role of a woman who was trafficked into a brothel and eventually made connections with the underworld to become a formidable force. It is set to hit the theatres on February 25.
