‘Kakuda’ OTT release date out: Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh starrer to premiere on this date

While Sonakshi Sinha is busy with her wedding preparations, the makers of her next film have unveiled the release date with a poster. ‘Kakuda’ will be Sonakshi’s first film release post her wedding. The horror comedy also features Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem in key roles.

‘Kakuda’ to release on OTT

Just like ‘Heeramandi’, Sonakshi’s next film is also a digital project. ‘Kakuda’ will premiere on ZEE5 on July 12. The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, whose horror comedy ‘Munjya’ is currently running in theatres.

Besides the release date, the makers also unveiled the official poster of ‘Kakuda’. It features Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem.

The streamer shared the news of the film's release date in a post on social media platform X. "Purushon Ke Hit Mein Jaari- #Kakuda aa raha hai ‘12 July’ ko, toh ghar pe rahein aur theek 7:15 baje, darwaza khula rakhna naa bhoolein. Kyunki #AbMardKhatreMeinHai, #Kakuda only on #ZEE5," the company posted.

More about ‘Kakuda’

The spooky comedy is set in the village of Ratodi in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district. A curse is inflicted upon the village for years. As per the official synopsis, the film revolves around a peculiar ritual that demands the opening of the smaller door of each house every Tuesday at 7:15 PM sharp. Failure to comply with this rule invites the wrath of Kakuda, who punishes the man of the house. ‘Kakuda’ is produced by Ronnie Screwvala's banner RSVP.

The film was announced in 2021 but took three years in production. It will not have a theatrical release and premiere directly on the streaming platform.

Meanwhile, the film’s leading lady Sonakshi Sinha, is gearing up for her wedding with boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal. The wedding will take place on June 23 in a private ceremony. Sonakshi was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’ and received praise for her performance.
