Emraan Hashmi, popularly known as Bollywood's serial kisser, turned a year older today. After making his entry in Bollywood with the 2003 film 'Footpath', his career graph scaled new heights from the 2004 film 'Murder'. Time and again, the actor has proved his acting chops in movies like 'Zeher', 'Aashiq Banaya Apne', 'Kalyug', 'Gangster', 'Jannat', 'Raaz 3', 'The Dirty Picture', 'Azhar', 'Mumbai Saga'… to name a few. On the occasion of the actor's birthday, we give you a rundown of a few fascinating facts related to his life.

Did you know that Emraan Hashmi had changed his name to Farhan Hashmi for a while, but later went back to his original name Emraan. The actor was born on 24 March 1979 to a Muslim father and a Catholic mother.

Not many know that the actor's paternal grandmother was legendary actor Purnima. Emraan is also related to director Mohit Suri, who happens to be Mahesh Bhatt’s nephew. In fact, Mohit’s mother is the youngest sister of Mahesh Bhatt. So, while Emraan is the son of Mahesh’s first cousin, Mohit is his nephew. That makes Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Emraan and Mohit related to each other as cousins.

Besides being an actor, Emran Hashmi had even worked as an Assistant Director in the movie ‘Raaz’, which had the sultry Bipasha Basu and the hunky Dino Morea as the lead stars.

In his career spanning many years, there must hardly be a film in which Emraan hasn't kissed an actor onscreen, thus, earning him the tag of 'Serial Kiser' in Bollywood. In the 2012 film 'Raaz 3’, Emraan Hashmi had kissed his co-star Bipasha Basu onscreen for the longest time. It was a 20-minute kiss, which, by far has been termed as the longest kiss in Bollywood’s history. Emraan had revealed in an interview that his wife Parveen Sahni used to get angry after seeing him kissing someone in a scene.

After dating for many years, Emraan got married to Parveen Shahani in December 2006. The couple have a son named Ayaan Hashmi, who was born in February 2010. After Ayaan won a battle against cancer, Emraan wrote a book titled ‘The Kiss of Life: How A Superhero And My Son Defeated Cancer’.

On the work front, Emraan was last seen in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer 'Chehre’. Presently, Emraan is gearing up for the much awaited 'Tiger 3' with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead. Reports state that this film may just prove to be his career-best role. Besides that, Emran also has 'Selfiee' with Akshay Kumar.
