      Amitabh Bachchan birthday : Amitabh Bachchan is celebrating his 80th birthday today. The veteran Bollywood actor is known for his versatile acting skills. Besides delivering several superhits on the silver screen, he is also the host of TV show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and is applauded for his singing skills.

      On Amitabh Bachchan’s special day, let’s revisit some of his iconic movies:

      ‘Don’ (1978)

      Amitabh Bachchan portrayed the role of a violent gangster in a crime action thriller, directed by Chandra Barot. The actor’s performance as a cruel, cold-blooded gangster was highly praised by the audience. The film shows how Don dies during a police chase, and his lookalike Vijay infiltrates his gang on DSP D'Silva's orders to collect key information. However, a change of events lands him in trouble.

      As per a report in Times of India, ‘Don’ was the third highest-grossing Indian film of 1978, and was classified as a golden jubilee by Box Office India.

      ‘Silsila’ (1981)

      Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, and Jaya Bachchan starred in this romantic drama, directed by Yash Chopra. The story is about the love triangle of Amit-a romantic playwright, portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, Shobha (Amit’s wife), played by Jaya Bachchan, and Chandni (Amit's ex-girlfriend), played by Rekha. The movie was not a box office success initially, but it gained cult significance later on.

      ‘Agneepath’ (1990)

      Big B portrayed the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan in this action-crime drama, directed by Mukul Anand. Vijay is seeking revenge for his father’s death and injustices done to his family by joining the Mumbai underworld. Amitabh Bachchan received his first National Film Award for Best Actor at the 38th National Film Awards for his performance.

      ‘Pink’ (2016)

      The legal thriller, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, starred Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu in the lead roles. The film narrates the story of three single city girls - Minal, Falak and Andrea, who meet a politician's kin Rajveer and his friends during a night out. However, things turn ugly as Rajveer molests Minal.

      Following this, Deepak, a retired lawyer, takes it upon himself to fight the girls’ case against the influential boys.

      At the 64th National Film Awards, ‘Pink’ won in the category of Best Film on Other Social Issues.

      ‘Bhoothnath’ (2008)

      Directed by Vivek Sharma, this supernatural comedy starred Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Aman Siddiqui, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Shah Rukh Khan among others. The film is an adaptation of Oscar Wilde's 1887 short story ‘The Canterville Ghost’. The story shows the unique bonding between a ghost, played by Big B, and little boy named Banku, played by Aman. The cast's performance was hailed by the audience and critics as well. The film was a box office hit.
