'Gadar Ek Prem Katha' returns to theatres; Sunny Deol recreates iconic 'Hindustan Zindabad Tha' dialogue

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer ‘Gadar Ek Prem Katha’ is back in theatres with a 4K version.

The movie, which was released in 2001, is sure to bring back fond memories to the viewers. Interestingly, on the day of its re-release, Sunny Deol arrived at INOX theatre in Delhi, triggering fan frenzy as he recreated his iconic dialogue, 'Hindustan Zindabad Tha, Hai Aur Rahega'.

Sunny interacted with the audience as well in his Tara Singh avatar. Hed spoke in Punjabi and asked his fans to enjoy the film in theatres ahead of the release of its sequel– ‘Gadar 2’.

The second installment is going to hit the screens on August 11 during the Independence Day weekend.

Sunny also informed the fans about a special surprise at the end of the film. The actor revealed that the film will give a glimpse into the new world of Tara Singh.

‘Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’ was set in the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition in 1947 and the aftermath violence that followed. It focused on an interfaith love story. The film starred late veteran actor Amrish Puri as the antagonist Ashraf Ali.

The movie’s tracks ‘Udja Kaale Kaaga’ and ‘Main Nikla Gaddi Leke’ are still fan-favourite.

‘Gadar 2’ will clash in theatres with Akshay Kumar starrer ‘OMG 2’ and Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’.
