'Freddy' to 'Cirkus': Exciting films to watch this December

The last month of the year is here and Bollywood has an exciting line-up of releases set to entertain the audience. We have curated a list of the big releases of December for you. Take a look.

Qala (Netflix)

The Anvita Dutt directorial will mark the debut of late actor Irrfan Khan’s son, Babil Khan. The film, set in the 1940s, follows the story of a film industry singer Qala Manjushree. The film also stars Tripti Dimri in the titular role, Swastika Mukherjee, Amit Sial, Neer Rao, Avinash Raj Sharma, and Ashish Singh. It was released on Netflix on December 1, 2022.

Freddy (Disney+ Hotstar)

Kartik Aaryan stars opposite Alaya F in this his romantic-thriller. The Shashanka Ghosh directorial shows how an innocent-looking dentist turns into a murderer at night. It releases on Disney+ Hotstar on December 2, 2022.

India Lockdown (Zee 5)

The movie, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, is based on the Covid-19 induced lockdown and it shows how it affected the livelihood of people. Starring Shweta Basu Prasad, Aahana Kumra, Prateik Babbar, Sai Tamhankar, and Prakash Belawadi, the film releases on December 2, 2022, on ZEE5.

An Action Hero (Theatre)

Ayushmann Khurrana stars as popular actor Manav, who runs for his life after Bhura Solanki, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, seeks to avenge the mysterious death of his brother. It will be in cinemas on December 2, 2022.

Blurr (ZEE5)

Starring Taapsee Pannu and Gulshan Devaiah, the film is an official remake of the Spanish film ‘Julia’s Eyes’. It follows a blind woman who investigates the death of her twin sister. It will release on ZEE5 on December 9, 2022.

Salaam Venky (Theatre)

Directed by Revathi, the film revolves around the lives of a mother and her son who is suffering from muscular dystrophy. The movie stars Kajol, Vishal Jethwa, Aahana Kumra, and Rahul Bose. It will release in theatres on December 9, 2022.

Maarrich (Theatre)

Tusshar Kapoor’s second production venture will also mark his comeback to the big screen after the 2017 film ‘Golmaal Again’. The film, which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Anita Hassanandani, Dipannita Sharma, Seerat Kapoor, and Rahul Dev, will release in theatres on December 9, 2022.

Govinda Naam Mera (Disney+ Hotstar)

Starring Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani, and Bhumi Pednekar, the film follows the story of Govinda Waghmare who finds himself torn between his wife and his girlfriend. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on December 16, 2022.

Cirkus (Theatre)

Rohit Shetty’s period comedy stars Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Varun Sharma. ‘Cirkus’ will have a theatrical release on December 23.
