‘Freddy’ producer Jay Shewakramani dismisses reports claiming Ekta Kapoor is upset with Kartik Aaryan

In an interview with Bollywood life, Jay revealed why they chose to take the OTT route, rather than releasing the film in theatres, and shut down rumours of producer Ekta Kapoor being miffed.

‘The thing is we started work on Freddy last year, and always had an OTT release in mind. Yes, after the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 a lot of people questioned us on why we are not bringing Freddy on the big screen. But the film has been designed for OTT from day one. We never planned to bring it on a big screen,’ he said.

The producer also praised Kartik and said, ‘Working with him is a dream. He is a thorough professional, and he is all there for a film. It is a treat and delight to work with him.’ He added, ‘I went to him with Freddy because he does so many comedies. What I realise is what makes Kartik Aaryan Kartik Aaryan is his bold choices. He is ready to do different genres.’

Jay also talked about Alaya F’s performance in the film and said, ‘She is a gifted actor. Her craft keeps getting better. She is going to be a surprise in Freddy.’

‘Freddy’, directed by Shashanka Ghosh, will be released on December 2 on Disney+ Hotstar.

On the work front, Kartik Aaryan was last seen in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ alongside Kiara Advani. The film gained massive success at the box office. He also has ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha’, ‘Shehzada’ and ‘Hera Pheri 3’ in the pipeline.
