FIR against singer Rahul Jain for allegedly raping a costume stylist; he says allegations are 'fake'

Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Bollywood singer-composer Rahul Jain for allegedly raping a costume stylist at his Mumbai flat, according to news agency PTI. However, he has denied the allegations saying they are 'fake and baseless'.

The woman's statement was recorded at the Oshiwara police station in which she mentioned that Rahul conatcted her on Instagram and praised her work. A poilce official said quoting the FIR that the statement reads that Rahul asked her to visit his flat in Andheri assuring that she will be appointed as his personal costume stylist.

The official added that the woman visited Rahul Jain at his flat on August 11 and he asked her to accompany him to his bedroom under the pretext of showing her his belongings and raped her. The woman also stated Rahul tried to destroy evidence.

According to police, the woman works as a freelance costume stylist.

FIR has been registered against Rahul Jain under sections 376 (Punishment for rape), 323 (Punishment for voluntary causing hurt) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), the official said. No arrest has been made so far.

Talking about the FIR, Rahul said that he doesn't know the complainant and the allegations against him are 'fake and baseless. 'Earlier also a woman had made similar allegations against me but I got justice. This woman may be an associate of that woman,' he was quoted as saying by PTI.

Last October, a Bollywood lyricist-writer filed an FIR against Rahul Jain for rape, forcible abortions, abandonment of child and cheating.
