Happy Birthday Farhan Akhtar: 5 films that prove his versatility as an actor

Farhan Akhtar, a director, actor, producer, screenwriter, lyricist, playback singer and television host, began his Bollywood career as an assistant director in the film ‘Lamhe’ (1991). He started his acting career with ‘Rock On!!’ and since then has done several films.

As the multi-talented man turns 49, here are his 5 must-watch films.

Dil Dhadakne Do (2016)

The movie is about Mehras who are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary on a cruise ship with friends and family. A number of instances take place that give them a rude reality check. Farhan plays the role of Sunny, a journalist and Priyanka Chopra's love interest. Though the role was small, his one scene on smashing patriarchy became one of the major takeways from the film.

Wazir (2016)

The film is an action thriller arising out of the grief of two loss-stricken leads - a paralyzed chess master (Amitabh Bachchan) and a suspended anti-terror officer (Farhan Akhtar). The film also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Aditi Rao Hydari.

Bhaag Milka Bhaag (2013)

Farhan Akhtar played the role of legendary sprinter Milkha Singh in this film that won him several accolades and awards. The film also won the national award. The actor went through massive body transformation to turn into the 'Flying Sikh'.

Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara (2011)

The film is an 'adulting' version of Farhan's directorial debut 'Dil Chahta Hai' as three friends Kabir (Abhay Deol), Imran (Farhan Akhtar) and Arjun (Hrithik Roshan) take a trip to Spain and try their hands on everything from deep-sea diving, sky-diving to running with the bulls. The trip turns out to be an opportunity to mend fences, heal wounds and live life.

Rock On !! (2008)

Farhan Akhtar's ‘Rock On’ revolves around four friends who wanted to make it big as a rock band but fall apart. Later, they reunite and give it another shot. Farhan plays the role of Aditya Shroff, the lead singer of the band but who chooses a corporate life after the fall out.
