‘Dunki’: Shah Rukh Khan starrer is now streaming on this OTT platform

Nearly two months post its theatrical release, Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Dunki’ has been released on OTT. The Rajkumar Hirani directorial is now streaming on Netflix. On February 14th night, Netflix announced the digital release of ‘Dunki’ by sharing a poster on their official Instagram handle.

‘Pack your bags! After a Dunki around the world, @iamsrk is coming home. Dunki, now streaming on Netflix!’ the caption read.

‘Dunki,’ which was released in theatres on December 21, depicts the emotional voyage of a circle of friends aspiring to relocate abroad. The narrative tracks their adventurous pursuit through an unconventional path called the Donkey Flight, showcasing the challenges they encounter along the way.

Alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the film features Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles. Notably, the movie amassed a remarkable sum of over Rs 300 crore at the Indian box office.

Despite the positive reception from audiences, Rajkumar Hirani disclosed in an exclusive interview with News18 Showsha that Shah Rukh Khan was convinced that while the comedy-drama ‘Dunki’ would resonate with audiences, it might not achieve the same blockbuster numbers as action-packed films like ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathaan.’

‘He had always told me not to expect huge numbers at the box office initially. He knew it was a slow burner and the audience and family would eventually lap up to the film and start coming in. More than anyone, he was preparing me and that is what exactly happened. We have seen many families coming together to theatres to watch the film,’ he told us.

According to a recent report by Box Office Worldwide, ‘Dunki’ is being considered for submission for The Academy Awards nomination. While there's no official confirmation yet, if this speculation holds true, it would mark Shah Rukh Khan's third film to be submitted for Oscar consideration. Previously, his 2004 movie ‘Swades’ and 2005 film ‘Paheli’ were also submitted for this prestigious recognition.
