‘Drishyam 2’: After so many years, a film has delivered housefull shows says Manoj Desai

‘Drishyam 2’, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, is receiving immense love from the critics as well as the audience. The film has collected around ₹ 75 crores at the box office within 4 days of its release, and it is expected to enter the Rs 100 crore club within its first week. Film exhibitor and former producer Manoj Desai said that ‘Drishyam 2’ is the first film in years to have Housefull shows at two of the most iconic theatres in Mumbai - the Maratha Mandir and Gaiety Galaxy.

Speaking with a YouTube channel FilmiFever he said, ‘We were in tears because Bollywood films were performing so badly. But after so many years, a film has delivered housefull shows.’ He also informed that Gaiety Galaxy theatre can accommodate 1000 people at a time, while The Maratha Mandir can accommodate 1200 people, and on Sunday, the shows for the film were sold out.

He later commented on Bollywood's current rough patch and said that if Bollywood decides to produce original content, then it could deliver many successful films and even bigger hits than even ‘Drishyam 2’.

This year has been not been good for the Hindi industry as only four films succeeded at the box office. Kartik Aaryan starrer 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' and Anupam Kher's 'The Kashmir Files' were very profitable, while films like 'Brahmastra' and 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' also had a good theatrical run, but they also had massive budgets to recover.

‘Drishyam 2’ is an official remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, starring Mohanlal. Akshay Khanna, Rajat Kapoor also play pivotal roles in the movie.

Also Watch| ‘The King's Affection’, starring Park Eun-bin, has become the first Korean-language series to win Emmy
