Divya Khosla Kumar Calls Out Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt Over 'Jigra' Controversy, see details

Divya Khosla Kumar has accused Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt of plagiarism and inflated box office numbers following the release of their film 'Jigra'.

Divya Khosla Kumar Calls Out Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt Over 'Jigra' Controversy, see details

Divya Khosla Kumar, wife of producer Bhushan Kumar, has publicly criticized Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt regarding their new film, 'Jigra'. The controversy began after the release of 'Jigra', which Karan co-produced. Divya has accused both of unethical practices, including plagiarism and manipulating box office numbers.

Divya’s complaints started when she claimed that 'Jigra' closely resembled her own film, 'Savi', which was released earlier. She argued that 'Jigra' had a plotline very similar to hers and felt overshadowed by the star power of Alia Bhatt and the influence of Karan Johar, despite Savi being produced first. Divya pointed out that Savi was co-produced by Mukesh Bhatt.

Divya also shared her disappointment by posting an image of an empty theater where 'Jigra' was screening. She accused the film's makers, including Karan Johar, of inflating box office numbers despite low attendance, saying, “I saw an empty theatre, yet Jigra’s opening figures were inflated. That needs serious correction.” She criticized the manipulation of box office figures, arguing that the success of a film should be based on its artistic value rather than misleading numbers.

Divya also accused Karan Johar of using derogatory language to dismiss her claims, alleging he called her a “fool” for raising these concerns. She expressed her outrage over this treatment, questioning the appropriateness of dismissing a woman’s concerns in such a manner. “Is it right to call a woman a fool for pointing out unethical practices?” she asked.

Other industry reactions

Kangana Ranaut criticized the film’s makers for undermining women-centric films, while Bijou Thaangjam accused them of discrimination against Northeast Indian actors. In response to Divya’s claims, Karan Johar shared a cryptic message on social media, posting that silence is the best response to “fools.'
