‘Crew’ box office collection day 1: Kareena Kapoor, Tabu & Kriti Sanon starrer enjoys a Good Friday

Rajesh A Krishnan’s heist comedy ‘Crew’ witnessed an impressive start at the box office. With Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles, the film went on to become the third biggest Bollywood opener of the year after ‘Fighter’ and ‘Shaitaan’.

According to Sacnilk.com, the film minted ₹ 8.75 crore on its opening day at the box office with an overall 26.34 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday. Given the long weekend factor and no other big Bollywood release, Crew’s box office numbers are expected to grow in the weekend. Despite the absence of another big Bollywood release, ‘Crew’ is facing tough competition from ‘Godzilla X Kong’.

However, the film failed to match the numbers of Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Veere Di Wedding’ which was also co-produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. The 2018 film had minted ₹ 10.7 crore on the day 1 of its release.

The heist comedy film boasts of a stellar cast including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. Diljit Dosanjh and comedian Kapil Sharma also play key roles in the film, which has opened to a positive response from the critics and moviegoers. ‘Crew’ is made under the Balaji Telefilms and Anil Kapoor Film & Communications banners.

‘Crew’ is set against the backdrop of the struggling airline industry and follows the story of three women who are air hostesses by profession. Their lives take a turn when they are caught in a web of lies woven by someone.
