Confirmed: Sunny Deol set to return in ‘Gadar 3’ but with a twist, details inside

Fans of ‘Gadar’ franchise are in for a treat. Director Anil Sharma has confirmed that ‘Gadar 3’ is in the pipeline. The third film in the franchise will see Sunny Deol back in the role of ‘Tara Singh’. This announcement comes after the massive box office success of ‘Gadar 2’ in 2023.

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer ‘Gadar 2’ created history as it emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2023. Owing to the huge success of the last 2 films of the franchise, Sunny Deol has agreed to team up with Anil Sharma. A report in Pinkvilla quoted Anil Sharma saying, “Yes, Tara Singh will be back, as we have locked in the basic idea of Gadar 3. I am presently shooting with Utkarsh and Nana Patekar for my next directorial journey and will start working on the Gadar 3 script very soon.”

The report also suggests that basic paperwork has already started for the film, and it could go on floors by 2025. Actor Sunny Deol is currently busy with the shoot of Lahore: 1947. Deol has also been nominated in the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) category in Filmfare Awards 2024 for his role in ‘Gadar 2’.

The first film in the franchise ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ was released in 2001 with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles. The story of the film is set up against the period of India-Pakistan partition in 1947. The two lovers navigate the challenges of religion, border and much more.
