Chitrangda Singh on being typecast as the ‘seductress’ in films: ‘You are offered the same thing’

Actor Chitrangda Singh is busy promoting her forthcoming film ‘Gaslight’, co-starring Sara Ali Khan and Vikrant Massey. During a promotional event, the actor was asked about why she takes long breaks between films and is also facing the risk of stereotyping.

Speaking with India Today, Chitrangda said that she often ‘doesn’t get the work’ she wants to do. She said she is offered the same thing… like a seductress.

‘Also, a lot depends on quality… the people you want to work with. So it’s a bit of both,’ the actor told India Today.

Chitrangda further said that the couple of breaks she has taken in between haven’t helped at all. However, when she looks back, she is thankful that people have remembered her work.

‘Even the younger lot, when they come and say they have watched Hazaaron… So I think good work does last. I feel fortunate,’ she said.

When asked if she had managed to shed her labels, the actor said that she didn’t understand why it happened in the first place.

‘In my first film, I was wearing cotton sarees with no makeup. My hair was in a bun. I hope to have done it (break out) but I really don’t know,’ Chitrangda said.

‘Gaslight’, directed by Pavan Kripalani, will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from March 31.
