The first glimpse of Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming social drama ‘Bheed’, starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, has been unveiled. The film, which has been made completely in black and white, is set during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India. It narrates the hard-hitting story of migrant workers who were stranded without basic necessities while trying to go home to their villages.

‘Bheed’ draws comparisons with the 1947 partition of the Indian subcontinent into India and Pakistan. This was the time when people were uprooted from their homes in the largest migration in history.

Sharing the video on social media, Rajkummar Rao wrote, ‘Hum kahaani bata rahe hai uss waqt ki jab batwara desh mein nahi, samaaj mein hua tha. #Bheed, a story of the darkest times, in black and white. Releasing in cinemas on 24th March 2023.’

‘Bheed’ also stars Pankaj Kapur, Ashutosh Rana, Dia Mirza, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastava, Kritika Kamra and Karan Pandit. It will release in theatres on March 24.
