‘Bawaal’ teaser: Netizens raise concerns over ‘romanticisation’ of Holocaust

Netizens are reviewing the ‘Bawaal’ teaser. While some are concerned that the makers have romanticised Holocaust, others are defending the film, saying that one has to trust Nitesh Tiwari's sensibility as a filmmaker before jumping to conclusions.

‘Bawaal’ teaser: Netizens raise concerns over ‘romanticisation’ of Holocaust

The teaser of Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Dhawan starrer ‘Bawaal’ was released on July 5 and it has created quite a buzz on the internet.

Netizens are intrigued by the last scene of the teaser which seems to feature a gas chamber from Nazi Germany.

Towards the end of the teaser, Varun and Janhvi are seen calling out to each other and then being separated by a tense crowd.

A man closes a window of what looks like a gas chamber.

This suggests that the story plays out against the Holocaust.

Reacting to this 'twist', Netizens are divided on the inclusion of the Holocaust, gas chamber, and Nazi Germany in the film.

A section of users feels that the makers intend to romanticise Holocaust, while other users are defending the film, saying that one has to trust Nitesh Tiwari's sensibility as a filmmaker, and wait for the film to release first, before jumping to conclusions.

Nitesh Tiwari has previously directed the blockbuster ‘Dangal’, starring Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

The movie was based on the story of Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Phogat.

Nitesh last helmed the National Award-winning film ‘Chhichhore’, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor among others.

‘Bawaal’ is co-written by Nitesh Tiwari, Nikhil Mehrotra, Piyush Gupta, Shreyas Jain and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. The film will premiere directly on Prime Video India on July 21.
