Anupam Kher defends Aditya Chopra after Anurag Kashyap blames him for YRF's failure

Actor Anupam Kher has come out in support of Aditya Chopra days after filmmaker Anurag Kashyap claimed that he was responsible for the downfall of the production company Yash Raj Films. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the veteran actor, who was promoting his film ‘Karthikeya 2’ with the star cast, said that he’s very proud of Aditya and Yash ji’s family is like his own. He stated that to create an empire like Yash Raj Films is not an easy task, however, it’s easy for people to pass comments. He added that Anurag Kashyap is ‘not the ultimate authority on human behaviour’.

Earlier this month, Anurag in an interview with Galatta Plus, talked about Yash Raj Films’ repeated failures and said that Aditya Chopra is not empowering his filmmakers, but dictating them. He added that he’s exercising control over everything.

‘Sit in your office, hire good people if you trust them, and let them make their film. Which is the mistake he makes. He doesn’t let them (be),’ Anurag told Galatta Plus.

Yash Raj Films is one of India’s biggest film production houses. This year, the company has delivered back-to-back flops with ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, and ‘Shamshera’.

Anupam Kher has been a part of some of major hits produced by Yash Raj Films, including ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Mohabbatein’, and ‘Darr’ among others.
