Akshay Kumar's next film 'Sooryavanshi' to light up theatres this Diwali

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced the opening of theatres in the state from October 22.

After a long wait, 'Sooryavanshi' starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif finally has a release date. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film is all set to have a Diwali release on October 22.

The release date was announced soon after the Maharashtra government announced that theatres will reopen in the state in October.

While Rohit Shetty shared a photo with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and thanked him for reopening the theatres, Akshay Kumar shared a BTS photo from the shoot of the film featuring Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty. He wrote, "So many families would be thanking Uddhav Thackeray today!."

'Sooryavanshi' is the fourth film in Rohit Shetty's cop universe in which Akshay Kumar plays the role of anti-terror squad chief ACP Veer Sooryavanshi.

The film also has special appearances by Ajay Devgn as Inspector Bajirao Singham and Ranveer Singh as Inspector Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba.
