      As his home state of Bihar saw widescale arson during a protest against the Narendra Modi government's Agnipath scheme for the armed forces, actor Pankaj Tripathi reminded the youth that violence was not an acceptable way of protest.

      Backing the right to peaceful dissent, the actor however reminded India's youth that the damage to the government’s property means damage to the country’s property

      'In this country, everyone has the right to speak their mind and peacefully protest. That’s how it should be,' Pankaj said during a press conference in Delhi.

      Protests erupted in several states after the centre announced the new military recruitment scheme for the three-armed forces on June 14.

      Pankaj Tripathi was in the national capital for the promotion of his forthcoming film 'Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga' along with filmmaker Srijit Mukherji.

      The film, which also stars Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta in key roles, will be released in theatres on June 24.
