UP Election 2022: Samajwadi perfume maker arrested after raids busted 250 crore cash

Kanpur-based perfume maker Piyush Jain, whose premises were raided by central agencies, has been arrested on charges of tax evasion, a senior official said.

Jain last week shot into headlines after pictures of a raid at his premises showing officials counting heaps of currency notes with note counting machines went viral recently.

PTI has reported that over 250 crore in cash were seized during the raids apart from gold and silver. Unaccounted sandalwood oil, perfumes worth crores have also been seized from Jain's factory, reports said.

Reports added that bundles of cash were found stuffed in cartons and wardrobes at Jain's house. Piyush Jain is close to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and his brother is a Samajwadi Party leader.

Jain is the same person,who had recently launched Samajwadi Perfume, which was unveiled by Akhilesh Yadav.
