Lakhimpur: Union Minister's son, prime accused in farmers' killings, walks out of jail

Ashish Mishra, the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra 'Teni', who is a key accused in Lakhimpur Kheri farmers' killing case, walked out of the jail on Tuesday. Ashish Mishra was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court on February 10.

MoS Home Ajay Mishra also reached his home in Lakhimpur to meet his son.

Ashish Mishra is the main accused in the case where 4 farmers and a journalist were run over by a speeding SUV in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3 last year.

The charge sheet filed by the police stated that Ashish Mishra was at the spot where the violence took place. Both Minister Ajay Mishra Teni and his son have continuously claimed that Ashish was not in the SUV or on the spot during the incident.

As Ashish Mishra walked out of jail amid UP poll campaign, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on Tuesday said the Samyukta Kisan Morcha will approach the Supreme Court over the Lakhimpur Kheri violence episode in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed.

Tikait also hit out at the BJP asking how the accused in the heinous killing of farmers was allowed to walk out of jail.

Lakhimpur Kheri will go to the polls in the fourth phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 on February 23.
