Punjab Exit Polls 2022: A year-long protest by farmers, infighting in the ruling party, and break-up of a decades-old alliance - with drama at every stage, Punjab was arguably the most-keenly watched election in the 5-state poll exercise which ended on March 7. The border state saw a multi-cornered contest for the first time in 2022.

And it's a relatively newer player which seems to have captured the voters' imagination in Punjab. According to predictions by most exit polls, it is the Aam Aadmi Party which is headed for victory in the northern state.

The exit poll conducted by News24 and Today's Chanakya predicted a clean sweep for the party, claiming it is headed to win 100 seats in the 117-member House. The majority mark is 59. The Aaj Tak-Axis My India exit poll has predicted 76 to 90 seats for the AAP, while Republic PMARQ says the party will win 62 to 70 seats. ABP CVoter predicts 51 to 61 for the AAP while Times Now Veto says the party might win 70.

The Akali Dal, which broke up with the BJP over the farm law protest, also apparently failed to capitalise on anti-incumbency.
